What is Pacific Time?
Pacific Time (PT) is the West Coast zone, covering California, Washington, Nevada, and nearly all of Oregon. It runs on Pacific Standard Time (PST, UTC−8) from November to March and Pacific Daylight Time (PDT, UTC−7) the rest of the year.
PT is 3 hours behind the East Coast all year, which shapes West Coast schedules: the New York stock market opens at 6:30 AM Pacific, and East Coast prime time starts at 5:00 PM PT. As the home zone of Hollywood and Silicon Valley, PT is the reference clock for much of US entertainment and tech.
