Idaho's time zones

Idaho is split in two. Boise, Twin Falls, Pocatello, and Idaho Falls — the populous south — observe Mountain Time (MST UTC−7, MDT UTC−6). The northern panhandle, including Coeur d'Alene, Moscow, and Lewiston, runs on Pacific Time, an hour earlier.

The divide crosses the state in the sparsely settled Salmon River country, roughly following the river between the panhandle and the south. North Idaho's road and business links point west toward Spokane, Washington, which is why that region keeps Washington's clock; the tz database gives southern Idaho its own identifier, America/Boise.
