Indiana's time zones
Most of Indiana, including Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, observes Eastern Time. Twelve counties keep Central Time instead: a cluster in the northwest around Gary, inside Chicago's orbit, and another in the southwest around Evansville.
Indiana's clock history is famously tangled. Until 2006 most of the state skipped daylight saving entirely, holding EST year-round — level with Chicago in summer and New York in winter.
